  Food Events at the Noosa Long Weekend

Noosa’s reputation as one of Australia’s favourite foodie destinations is well known. This June, the Noosa Long Weekend Festival is dishing up a smorgasbord of food events as part of the 10 day festival taking place from 14-23 June, 2013.

Food, glorious food forms part of the 85plus events that make up the multi-arts genre program which includes music, cabaret, comedy clubs, dance, theatre, literature, forums, film, workshops, supper clubs, food and free events.

Loosen your belts people – here’s a taste of what’s on offer!

1. Sunday 16 June. 3pm. Tea, Treats and Tales with Celebrity Chef Janelle Bloom. Janelle will share her tips and tricks as part of a cooking demonstration and then you can enjoy the fruits of her labour over afternoon tea with sparkling wine. RACV Noosa Resort. $45 includes cooking demo, afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling wine.

2. Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 June. 9.15am – 5pm. Full day Hinterland Food Safari – Asian Style. Over eight hours of indulgence with a gourmet tour of the hinterland taking in Tim Warren’s Garnisha Spice Gardens in Cootharaba, Tamarind Restaurant at Spicers Retreat, Maleny and the biggest ginger factory outside of China, the Ginger Factory at Yandina. $170 includes morning tea, lunch with glass of champagne and wine, Ginger Factory tour with tastings and coach travel.

3.Tuesday 18 June. 12noon and 1.15pm (two sittings). Ducks Deluxe. Duck into Hastings Street and into three great local restaurants namely Gaston Bar Bistro, Bistro C and Sails Beach Cafe for a duck extravaganza. $110 includes three courses each featuring duck, three glasses of wine and a small dessert.

4.Thursday 20 June. 12noon and 1.15pm (two sittings). Indian Banquet. Enjoy a progressive Indian Banquet and share traditional dishes from the North to South of India. Visit Noosa Junction restaurants Maharaja Indian, Mystic India and Jay India for each course. $60 includes one course lunch at each restaurant. BYO.

5. Friday 21 June. 12.30pm. Prawnissimo Promenade. Three Sunshine Beach restaurants – Fratellini Ristorante, Coconut Grove Bar and Bistro and Embassy XO, three prawn dishes and a sweet treat! $110 includes three courses, three glasses of wine and a small dessert.

6.Friday 21 June. 12noon (with possible 1.15pm second sitting subject to demand). Three Little Piggies lunch. A progressive pork lunch at Quamby Place restaurants - Rock Salt @ Noosa, Wasabi Restaurant and Bar and Wood Fire Grill. $110 includes three pork courses, three glasses of wine and a small dessert.
